The last Thursday of term, we had an outside study trip which was really interesting. We were outside to carry out a special project which Vicci gave us. That project was original and attractive: making fashion designs with materials which are not fabric. So, each of us had to think of some  convenient materials which we could use.

Lan Anh chose buttons, Thao’s material was labels, Tu liked sleeping mats… In general, it was really interesting. If I only had one word to describe my class’s collection, I would use “search”. We walked to look for materials and places to take picture. We walked around the centre of Ha Noi.

Finally, we chose the special spot. It was convenient for our designs. On that day, Trung/Bob became a professional photographer. He chose backgrounds and different points of view for each shot. Poor Tu, that day she was our model. The weather was so cold but she wore only thin clothes

We were careful to choose the view, sight, style for the design. Sometimes, we had to take a lot pictures. Some of us were very fastidious but finally we had many great photos and we were satisfied. Moreover, I think this was a good experience for our future careers

Finally, after 3 hot summer months, now I am finally becoming a first year student of LCFS. I’ve wished I would be a professional designer since I was a child. It grew and grew and now it has become my aim. I choose to be a designer. Not like Mai, my classmate, who is a famous designer and has joined international fashion. My dream is smaller and simpler. Perhaps, I am not a highly ambitious person.    Perhaps because this is the first time and we weren’t used to our new school. By the afternoon, we had started to make friends and we felt more relaxed because we were drawing. Vicci requested us to observe the model and not look at our paper. All the pictures looked so terrible. But from that point the class atmosphere became more friendly, comfortable. Everyone looked though each others pictures and we

With me, simply, I want to see other people wearing my clothes. Maybe, my wish is commonplace. But it would give me great pleasure and happiness. It would mean my designs were accepted and everyone loves my talent. The opening ceremony was short but solemn. The first time in LCFS was pleasant and comfortable, not stressful or any pressure. I got to know all about the teachers and was informed about the regulations when I started.

all laughed together. After a week I feel that learning here is not simple. We have to work hard. Everyday, we learn much information in all of the subjects: fashion business, design, patterns, western cultural studies, sewing… all students need to research, search information and practice. Teacher only introduce and teach the methods. At the end of this term, we have to finish our designs and make them.. This outfit will be our result after 3 months.
I was so impressed with the names of each class. The first year, the students are split into two classes. Mine is named after the famous brand Chanel, the other is Chloe. The second year is called McQueen. LCFS is so fashionable. On the first day, we learned Design & Illustration from Ms  Vicci. The class was so quiet and not active.   I really feel enthusiastic with this design project. However, besides I feel worried and anxious. What is the reason of that feeling? Yes, I guest that is because of  strange. But I think that I will try my best to get the successful result. And I believe with my attempt I will have a perfect design. I hope and believe that I will be successful.

When we think about female dominant fields like cooking or fashion design, we always assume that a great chef or a well-known designer must be a woman. In fact, no, I can guarantee that the majority of cooks in many 5-star hotels are men. Things are similar in fashion industry nowadays, there are many famous male designers such as Ralph Lauren, Paul Smith, Alexander Mc. Queen, etc.
At LCFS, the number of male students is relatively small. However, the tiny number does not reflect their talents and they are devoted to their work here.  In this newsletter , we would like to introduce you to Blade and Loi.

Nguyễn Hữu Lợi successfully finished his first year and left a good impression on the teachers and  his classmates. All lecturers were totally surprised at Loi’s progress and highly appreciative of his hard work.

At the start of year 1, Loi always avoided meeting and talking to foreign lecturers, but at the last final exam, he confidently delivered a presentation in English in front of all lecturers without any extra helps.
Before coming to LCFS, he took a course on professional make up. He has had a chance to prove his talent by doing the make-up for models for LCFS’s fashion show held in Sheraton Hotel last February.
He admitted that he was an ambitious man, because he had so many plans and ideas in his mind. He would like to do research on Vietnam collection grand prix as well as make new plans for coming term at LCFS. He hopes to gain great results in the contest and in the new term.

Wang Jun – Blade, a Chinese student who is in term 3 at LCFS. His nickname Blade is the result of all the competition and awards that he had won for fencing. During his mid term holiday, he went back to China and worked as salesman for the Ever - Glory International Group Corporation - a well-known garment factory in China.  His main duties were collecting customer orders and doing customer services. After the holiday, he told us that he had applied much  of the knowledge gained in LCFS to his job.

Subjects on garment history, fashion business, pattern cutting and English helped him a lot. He said it’s really hard to satisfy customers nowadays because you have a lot of competitors and customers always test your company’s ability before putting orders in your hands.
Wang Jun has came back to school. His practical experiences really made students of term 3 excited. He planned to work full time for the group after the graduation.
